The Smiths

It is Sun­day. It is nine o’clock in the morn­ing. The Smiths are at home. Mr. Andrew Smith is a British diplo­mat. His wife Lau­ra is a French teacher. Their son Michael is a stu­dent. Their daugh­ter Alice is a schoolgirl.

The Smiths are sit­ting at the table. They are hav­ing break­fast. Mr. Smith and Michael are hav­ing bacon and eggs, toast, but­ter, jam and tea. Mrs. Smith and Alice are hav­ing orange juice, toast, jam and cof­fee. Mr. Smith is ask­ing Michael and Alice about their stud­ies. Alice and Michael are answer­ing his questions.

After break­fast they are going to vis­it the Browns. Alice is going to show her new lit­tle dog to her friend Jill Brown. The Smiths and the Browns are going to have dinner.

It is evening. The Browns and the Smiths are sit­ting at the table. They are hav­ing din­ner. They are dis­cussing their plans on the week. After din­ner they are hav­ing a rest. The adults are dis­cussing dif­fer­ent things. Michael is play­ing the piano. Alice and Jill are play­ing with Alice’s lit­tle dog.

Con­struc­tion “To be going to + verb” – собираться сделать что-либо:

  • Are you going to watch TV tonight?
  • No, I’m not. I am going to write some let­ters to my friends.
  • What are you going to do after that?
  • Oh, I’m going to go to bed.

 

  1. Com­plete this dialogue:
  • Hel­lo, Tim! What are you going to do this evening?
  • And what is your sis­ter going to do?
  • Then what are you and your sis­ter going to do on Sunday?

 

  1. Make up 5 sen­tences using “To be going to + verb”

 

  1. Write ques­tions for the sentence:

  1. Open the brack­ets using Present Continuous:
